Radio volume out of control

Anyone know a fix for Ford radio volume control. Mine went straight to Max Vol this am and is stuck. I've seen this before. My Ranger has 132k miles so is it time for Audio Zone or what? Thanks.

I think the radio itself is shorted out. I knew of this happening to someone else. Time for a new one

my 2001 Ford F150 Screw Lariat CD/tape/radio does this. it's the one with the CD player in the center cosole (6 CD's). doesn't go striaght to max, but when i turn it down, it goes up! i shut the truck down, wait 5 seconds, restart and that usually fixes it...sometimes it takes multiple attempts though. I definitely want to keep the OEM look and ease of use, along with the 6-CD player (in the console). I found several for less than $40 on ebay....will pull the radio, check PN's and then see what happens...will update .

Sounds like a bad solder joint from volume control to circuit board or the volume control itself is toast.

Some Rangers came with a feature that automatically adjusts volume according to speed you are driving. Check the link to see if have the feature and how to adjust it if so,

Speed-sensitive radio volume?
