I just dropped my old 360/np435 in today. The tranny was tough getting on but i believe it is on right. I had to back off the nuts on the rod for the clutch linkage and realized when i put the rod back on i couldnt see how far i had to go becuase the rod was blocking my view. Right now the tranny seems stuck in gear and i cant get it out. I started it up and i could start to get it to move but only way at the top of the pedal. My question is which way do i need to adjust the nuts to get my rod right? This might be hard to understand but just ask and i can try to clear it up. Thanks

 

You adjust it for a pedal freeplay of 1"-1 1/2".

Either measure from the floor to the pedal pad or from the steering wheel to the pad.

However, engine off you should easily be able to move the shifter in and out of the gears.

Thats what i was afraid of. What could by my issue there?

 

Did you have the top plate off at one time? Maybe the shift forks weren't lined up while the tranny was also in gear instead of neutral.

Top plate on the tranny? it was off at one point but it shifted fine just moments before we went to put it in. When i went to put the shifter back on it looks as though its somewhere around 2nd gear. But regardless it doesnt want to move with or without the clutch in.

 

Pull the top plate and have a look-see.

Alright il have a look. Is it most likely something within the tranny or something having to do with the clutch mechanism as to why it seems stuck in gear?

 

I would say something to do with the shift forks most likely.
