winter truck grill cover question..

Hey guys I saw alot of guys running a grill cover in jersey during the winter last year and was curious if there was any real advantages to it on our pickups and should I purchase one for this winter?? I understand the principle behind it, just not sure if its something worth the while to go out and buy??

I had them on the big trucks I ran over the road but never on my truck. Edit: Seen your location, Jersey. My truck blows hot in the winter so no need for one.

I did a bunch of reading here on this topic. Some say it doesn't do any good. Others say it brings the heat up faster. Since I did the EBPV delete I'm seriously considering this.
I did send an email to Alaska Tent and Tarp. Response below on price.

Thanks for inquiring with Alaska Tent & Tarp for your winter front needs.
Cost for an X00373 - F250/350 Winter front: $45.00, one package Z35014 - Screw Studs: $3.75 and $10.80 shipping.
Please contact us if we can be of further assistance.

Thanks

You could look into getting a stainless steel front that clips right into the grille. No drilling, no snaps. It uses hooks that reach in behind the grille. Mine is made by Lund. I found if it was extremely cold out, my brakes seemed to react slow after driving down the highway. Engine temp was never a problem while driving, but cold front seems to help warm-up after starting.

I know that Cabelas sells them. Think they're about $55.

Don't waste you money, doesn't help any warming up.

Besides, if you want to test the theory you unfold a Pabst Blue Ribbon case and place it in front of the radiator (or intercooler, in this case).

Cost = free.
Connection to the redneck world = priceless.

I would think they would help with warming up since you dont have cold air rushing through the grill. It doesnt get extremely cold here in jersey but Im new to driving a diesel and want to have it running great all year round. Like I said I have seen alot of guys running them but then you see alot not running anything covering the grill.

I live up here in frigid MN! Seen temps last year down to -30 or so and I have never had a winter front and never had trouble with the trucking not warming up or staying hot. My truck has always warmed up plenty fast enough for me. I wouldn't worry about it in my opinion.

I have one of the Lund cold front inserts, it certainly make the temp gauge come up faster when it's really cold.
