460 efi rebuild

is there anyone near martinsburg that would be interested in helping rebuild a 460? i have a '88 with 160k and a blown head gasket. so i figure its time for a rebuild. but i do have an opportunity to buy an older 70's era carbed 460 but haven't been able to get much info on it yet such as exact year and miles. but, if i were to get that, how hard would it be to swap that into an '88? since its set up for EFI, wouldn't i have to do alot of work to the electrical stuff? i feel as though im a total newb to this and would like some guidance and a better performing truck on the road.

88 is the breakover year. There is a difference in how the motors are balanced. So most parts will not interchange. Pistons are different between the engines due to the way the fuel is delivered. As far as wiring its not a problem. Just wire up the dist and everything else is the same. Throttle linkage is where it will get you. Using the efi cable on a carb would be interesting.
