Official Mileage report Thread?
hey guys, I currently have an '08 f150 S'crew, and come next june/july, I'll possibly be looking for a new truck. The F250 with the 6.2 is on my list of trucks, s'crew/s-box 4x4, likely just in xlt trim. Also will be the F150 with the 5.0l, or the 6.2l if it makes it to the f150's.
I test drove a F250/6.2, short town trip and 3-4kms on the highway, computer readout said about 10mpg. I'm a contractor, do a ton of driving, and would hope to see better than that. My current truck would get 15-18 under the same conditions (albeit it has 70k on it, smaller engine 5.4l, and lighter truck?)
As you 6.2 owners put some miles on, could you take a second and report your findings here? could some mod make this a sticky?
Thanks so much!!!

Well i will post up... I also have my eye on the F150 with the 5.0. i have a good feeling it will be a winner just like the 6.2L in the SD.
For mileage here is what we are seeing for 6.2L ... not too bad in my book. Oh by the way we have 4100 miles on the truck now.
16-18 hwy at 55 mph as speeds increase from here mileage drops
12-14 city and everyday driving
9-10 towing our 10k 5ver
And just for comparisons we have and had many diff trucks
1999 7.3L F250
17 hwy
14-15 city
10-11 towing same 10k 5ver
2008 3v v10 F350
13 hwy
10-11 city
8-9 towing same 10k 5ver

Update - Reviving Old thread...
Ok - took off for a football game (empty) this last weekend. From Tx Hill country to Lubbock Tx (actually Plainview) .. Now when I say empty I gotta say I have a toolbox with hand tools & other stuff that probably adds maybe 500# to the base weight of my pickup - Just me this time for this trip..
For those that don't know Texas the hill country varies in elevation starting in the 600 +sea Level And the panhandle is maybe 3500+ but flat..
Driving Up at 73-4 MPH I averaged right at 13.5 Hand calculated (12.8 on Meter) for 390 miles. Then I left Plainview at 6am and drove back - 420 mile (I had left from ranch & returned to Austin - that is why mileage diff) and averaged 14.8 Hand calculated (14.3 on meter) on the way back. Differences... On the way up AC was blowing all the way.. Temps in the 80's - 90's... Way back - started early - temps were 59 at start - 80 at end - didn't run AC until the last 100 miles..
The meter was showing 16 mpg for the first 100 miles or so and got worse as I got out of the flat country of the panhandle.. I beleive lie-o-meter was fairly correct - maybe .5 mpg off..
Other : I was running my mpg (Hand calc.) off a stand-alone GPS. Which consistently showed a 5 mile diff at 100 mile than the odometer (OD-100 miles / GPS 105 miles)
It is in my sig - but this is 3.73's
Edit: as of today got 4960 miles on the 6.2...
