Dent to Slick Dump build thread

As some of you know I'm swapping my 78' F-350 Cab with my 65' cab. For one I have so many hours of repairing that cab that I need to use it. The 78' cab is in horrible shape, so why not? It would make a great looking big Slick. Which if any of you know me they're my years 61-66' Ford trucks. We've been swapping chassis's for years to get the tank from behind the seat and to easily get power steering and disc brakes. Here's my concept:

Get the idea, but with a 2 tone color scheme. This cab started out as a 65' shortbed, I bought it off e-bay. Looked good in the pics, famous last words. But it did have a uncut dash and rust free drip rails. I'm a welder/fabricator so I figured I could fix the metal, but what a job. new floors, cab mounts, cab corners, cab brace end connectors, lower vent area, lower A pillar plates.

So I missed driving a truck and came across Eunice, the 65' sat and starting deteriorating again, then I came up with this idea. Been kinda fun getting out in the garage again, looking for parts. So now the cab is back in the garage, already broke the windshield, found another. Resanded everything, had to fill the gas fill on the back side of the drivers door, which is rounded, which is another reason these trucks are called slick's, you're hard pressed to find a square corner anywhere, it came out pretty good, I'm happy with it.

So thats where I'm at, crazy or what? I plan on leaving the 400 in it, runs really good. Finish the cab in the garage, paint everything then yank the 78' cab off, quickly paint the frame under the cab, scrub the motor a little and swap cabs. So that is installment one, Thanks for looking.

You're prob. right. I might cut myself and get blue blood all over him. But really the worse part is over, I do have some bad spots in inner fenders nothing like the cab though.

Worked on my inner fenders tonight, lil more rough than I remembered. I have 4 to choose from, 2 lefts, 2 rights. Of course 1 of the ones I need is out in my shed under 4 fenders, 3 tires and a core support, I'll get that one later. Decided which instrument cluster to use, my years had 2 to choose from: a round speedo and a sweep which was in the custom cab 65's and 66's. Think I'm gonna go with a sweep, they're kinda cool looking. I have a couple of both. I'll get some pics.
