Wheel offset??? HELP??

hey guys, i am looking to buy new wheels for my 2010 f150 4x4. i am putting a leveling kit on it and am going with a 17'' by 9'' wheel. my question is what offset should i go with? the truck will just be leveled so i dont want them to stick out too much but i also dont want them to be inset like the factory wheels. just want them to stick out past the fender wells maybe a half a inch. the set of wheels i am wanting have them in a -12mm or a +1mm. i know that the negative number means they set farther out and the positive means they set inward. But as iam going with a 9'' wide wheel i am wondering if a -12offset might stick too far out?? i know i might be brain F--ing this but i really want to get the right wheel. can anyone please give me some advice??? thanks guys.

There are some excellent wheel sites that can provide not just documented info but full videos on your queries. I can't link them for you off-hand but they were actually displayed at top page when accessing this forum.
You type in "wheels", you'll get there.

Best.

I went with a +12 when you look in the mirror at the rear tire the tread is straight down the fender and the are 9" wide so the have that balloon look to the tire and it goes out side of the wheel well just enof to give it that wide look
