2010 F150 Remote Start

I just bought a new 2010 F150 and it came with the factory remote start with the separate key fob. Does anyone know if I can get one of the integrated key fobs and program it to my truck/starter? Also if that is possible where can I get one?

you won't be able to use an intergrated key to control the remote start, but if you want to get rid of the keyless entry fob, then I've read about other guys using the Ford Fusion key or some other flip-style key from ebay. They have the intergrated lock/unlock buttons, and then you just attached the remote start fob to that.

just to be clear....

Maybe I shouldnt call it an integrated key fob.... What I mean is the 6 button key fob with remote start and door lock/unlock, or maybe even an older style 4 button.

oh, I thought you meant the intergrated "key" so you didn't have to carry any fobs around.

I'm not sure those other style remotes will work for you. From what I see on the wiring diagram/harness for the 1-button system, it does not even tap into the truck's door unlock wire. So maybe they would work and could start your truck and lock the doors, but you wouldn't be able to unlock the doors with the fob.

I have the 6-button alarm/rmst fob right now on my 09. I know the older 4-button rmst fob you are talking about. I was actually thinking about trying to program that 4-button fob for my truck because I don't really care for the 6-button fob. I hope to get one from my installer later this week and will give it a try. His guess is that he doesn't think it will work for me.

also, unless your installer/dealer already fixed this, you'll want to change the option setting for your system so it doesn't shutoff everytime you open the door after remote starting (due to the new 2010 My-Key feature). You can find the option settings in this file, you'll want to change Option Bank 2, Option 7 on page 2 of this file:

Well.... now I did it.

Well... I fixed her up good. I tried to adjust setting 7 in bank 2, but now the remote start does not work. I get one chirp like normal, then 4 chirps which I think means the tach signal is messed up. Any Idea how to fix that?

uh-oh, you did it now. During the programming, did you mistakenly hold-in the rmst button for longer than 3 seconds because that resets all of the options?

my only suggestion is to check the Option Bank 2, Setting 1 to see if you are set for Tachless operation (LED on for that setting). Our rmst systems do work without having to tap into the tach wire, so that option should be set for Tachless.

the 2011 250 have an integrated door key and remote. Hopefully the remote start is also on the key.

Thanks

Thanks for your help! I figured out the led that the procedure is talking about is behind the panel under the steering wheel. Once I could see that I figured out I had the starter set for tach mode. Turned that to tachless and now it works great! I also fixed the mykey problem.

glad you fixed it. yeah, I forgot to mention that they usually don't mount the LED light or the black program button so you have to go find it under the dash/steering panel.

sorry to dig up this old thread but I accidently reset the remote start by holding down the key over 3 seconds. I am getting the four horn beeps when trying to start the truck.

I didn't realize the red led was under the dash and I kept thinking it was on the keypad. Anyways, I know you have to set the tach option in bank 2 to tachless but it isn't working. After I set the option, I turn off the key to the truck but I don't think this is causing the option to stick. Once you program the option to tachless, what do you do to make sure the option stays? I don't see anything in the instructions that tells you what to do once programming is finished. Thanks for your help.

^yes, look at the file link I posted above. Option bank 2, option 3 you can change the run time from 10 minutes (default) up to 15 minutes.
