Can i swap a 170 for a 144 and bolt right in

The 144 will bolt up to the tranny of the 170. It will match the motor mounts and rad hoses.
It should be a straight swap with minor changes on linkages or vacuum hoses at the most.
As for a 200. It has to be an early 200. I tried to install one from a 1970 Maverick and it did not match my trannys bellhousing or motor mounts. The rad hoses were opposite sides.
I still have it sitting in my truck. I plan to have a 170 I have in a parts van rebuilt and put back in my truck to an original.

The 62 Econolines stock engine were only the 144 and 170 engines. They interchange to the same tranny and motor mounts.
It should fit. I do not recall any of the old Broncos having that size of motor. A 170 matbe, but not a 144. It would be weak for what the Broncos are used for, except for straight driving.
Those two engines are straight swaps.

Yes that is a good price when a rebuild is $2000 or more. I sold a rebuilt slant 225 with 5000km on it for $1000. It cost me $2000 grand to have rebuild. The car I put it in got totaled 6 month later. Insurance would not cover the new motor, so I kept car and sold motor to recoup some costs.
So at $300 that is a good deal. Does he have receipts from the rebuild shop?
I got a 390 for my 78 truck for $600 that was rebuilt and papers were included. This was a truck that got totaled and the motor to only had 5000 miles on it.

The Comet and Falcons share the same bell housings as the Econoline.
That motor looks kinda greasy and dirty for a engine rebuilt 5000 miles ago.
Even $300 for a good running engine is not bad. He does not say wat the compression is. Just one picture and no returns. That leaves it your choice to chance it works good. It is a gamble. A co-worker bought a what original 350 engine from a 68 Camero on Ebay. Paid the shipping and high price for the engine that was suspose to be from a Camero of that year. Only to find it was a 305 from a early 80's car. He got stung. Now he is getting a crated engine for his 68 Camero. So buyer beware. It is your gamble.
For me I would pass this one. He does not have much info written and pics or documents to back the rebuild and the greasy dirty look says it is not rebuilt. But a used engine. If it is a good engine with good compression It would fine at that price.

I read his feedback. It shows 100% positive. I don't know how that works when his feedback is 90% him purchasing stuff. Shouldn't that be for selling. He had one negative remark about the prices of shipping. He paid less than he charges for shipping with no compensation of the difference.
So I learned that if they have 100% by their name, does not mean they sold goods and got 100%. It means overall selling and buying.
So a person needs to look at the feedback remarks to get an idea of the creditbility.

Again thank you for your input, as soon as he said the paperwork was lost in a fire a big red flag went up in my head, I'm going to skip this one, I thought the same thing that it looked really dirty for a rebuild. I will keep looking.
Thank you
