Body swap

Just wondering, will the body, (cab, box, rad support) Swap onto, as a complete bolt on, to a 73-79 truck frame? Have a 1978 F150 2wd shorty and really want an older bumpside truck instead. Put lots into the frame and would like to keep it if I could. Thanks for any help

The cab/front clip are bolt hole exchange from 65-79. In 73 Ford added 4" to the rear of the cab behind the rear cab mounts adding 4" to the chassis in the bed area.

You can put a bump on a dent chassis but will have to deal with the extra length under the bed.

Is 73 the only year they have those extra inches? Or did they continue on through 75?

There's a complete write-up of this exact swap out there. Try googling "Chassis Comparison F100".

I actually did this with my '65 and I don't really like the way it turned out because of that extra 4". The cab is A-OK, but the rear tires are way to close to the front of the wheelwell now and it looks funny. I don't think I have any completed pics but you can check out some of the swap process at http://mybrewery.shutterfly.com or just search some of my older posts. I thought it'd be nice gaining the power steering, boosted disc brakes and 9" rear, which it is, but I wish I had a flat bed to put on it now.
