How about some more information. Lets start with the year and what kind of RS.

Then, how about a step by step description of what's going on. The way it sounds is that you press the start button on the remote, if the engine is cold or it's cold outside, it either spins but doesn't start or starts but shuts right down.

ok sorry its a 2004 explorer with a ford motor company RS with keyless entry
eng p/n:2w7j-19g367-aa code systems h63db
on the face of it, and yes it only acts up when the engine is cold, it starts for a few seconds then shuts off, but when its warm out like today it started and stayed running.

Next set of questions is. who installed it, since it's a ford unit, my guess would be the dealer which is a good thing.

Next would be is this a new problem or one since the unit was installed?

There seems to be some info on line about the unit, I'll link/copy pasta what I can find for you.

http://home.comcast.net/~donpaul/Ford_alarm.pdf

Explorer wiring diagrams start on page 201. I didn't see any reference to diodes, another tech sheet only talks about GEM wake up. If this is a new problem, I'd start by temporarily disabling the hood switch, it's a pretty quick shut down procedure if that is disconnected. Another thing I would spend a few seconds looking at is when it is remote started and shuts down, is the security light on in the cluster?

When you remote start it without the truck already started does the "theft" light flash? I install hundreds of remotes a year but not the Ford brand so if there is something I can help you with please let me know. Anyway if your theft light is flashing the transponder bypass is either not programmed or the ring around the cylinder is out of whack.

I wish I could help but I have the same problem.

I have a 2003 F250 7.3L.

I put an aftermarket Clifford alarm with remote start. It does the exact thing you described.

I have been back to the installer several times, but by the time I drive back to their location it is warmed up and wont fail like it does when cold.

You MAY also need to connect up the GEM WAKE UP DIAGRAM if when you use the REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY and the door locks stop working after a 5 minute wait.
