Question about changing factory radio radio.
I want to replace the factory CD changer in my 2003 f250 super duty with a 6L8t-18C815-AD from an 2005-2006 Escape. Is it possible to make this change? Can I buy the necassary adaptors? The head unit has the SAT/AUX buttons which I want to use for my Sirius Stiletto 2 radio.
My old radio that came with the truck has 6 disc stuck in it and I get the dreaded CD error. So I need to replace it and autopsy to get my son and my CD'S out of it.

from the reasearch i've done, the radio's are different... I've been researching iPod adapters for the wife's escape and the F250 and escape use a different one so I would "assume" since they use different iPod adapters that the wiring and plugs are different... I'll know for sure this weekend when I install the iPod adapter in the escape... I have my 6 disk from my F250 on a shelf so i'll compare them while the escape is apart and try to let you know... and if you need a new 6 disk, I'll make you a heck of a deal on mine...

Try this for the stuck cds in the radio. I was able to get them out, and the cd unit reset itself upon powering up. Remove the radio and put it on a workbench or the kitchen table. To get it apart, the front face needs to come off. I believe its a couple screws on each side, and the front face will come off and 1 wire plug to unplug. then looking from the front, gently slide the cd or cds out. Put the face back on, and reinstall in the truck. when powering up after plugging in the plugs , mine reset itself and now works again.

Why waste your money on facto crap when you can put a nicer aftermarket one in for not a lot of coin? My 250 just had the radio and for 60 bucks for the new head unit, wire harness, and dash kit I have a better then stock setup. The new head unit is nothing fancy but it has the aux input that I wanted, didn't even noticed till after I bout it that it didn't play cd's lol. There are two different wire harnesses though, one is a short fat one and the other is two harnesses. (one for power, the other for speakers) so watch out for that. Also you should be able to switch out the harness without too much trouble, not the easy way to do it but it's doable.

I eventually just purchased a good aftermarket radio from Crutchfield that came with all the mounting hardware and wiring adapters to make the installation "plug and play". And now I have a radio that has Bluetooth, HD Radio, Aux, Ipod control, etc, for a fraction of a factory setup.

I just got through fighting this battle with the wife's vette... it had a crummy stock NAV reciever with no iPod input... it was a pain in the a$$ to install the iPod controller and then have it only half work, no song data, no direct track access, no video or album art... dumped all that stock crap and put a Kenwood DVD/NAV(DNX-5140) head unit in... man what a difference... it was pricey(800.00) but in the end, with all the options and accessories I have now, I can hook up or play just about any file from any device made... and she's ecstatic... and thats always good...

I should have also posted for the original poster that I have my original radio, the same as he has, if he wants to replace it.
It also has the PIE Ford AUX adapter that plugs into the remote CD Changer port (unused on these F-series installs) that provides a standard AUX input. I just plugged an 1/8th inch audio cable into it and ran it out from under the dash for easy access to plug in things like Sirius/XM radios, MP3 /iPod players, etc.
My primary reason for upgrading to a new radio was that I wanted something that supported a subwoofer, which I've installed under the rear seat.

Yes, the radio will fit. You will have to buy (or make) an adapter because the plugs are different. OEM Car Radios. Factory stereo repair. Car radio parts and accessories. make a pigtail adapter. The physical unit is a direct replacement.
I went OEM so that I don't attract would-be thieves thinking that my truck is worth breaking into or stealing because I'm packing some $$$ inside the cab. Not to mention that I'm old and don't need dancing lights, displays or iPod connections. I have higher power, MP3 capability, an OEM look and it doesn't take up any extra room than the previous unit.
I could have gotten a pretty good Alpine for the same price or a little more, but then I would have to get an installation kit and take the time to install it. With my Escape radio, I have an in-dash 6CD changer and higher power (Audiophile unit) and all I had to do was take the old one out, connect an adapter cable and slide the new one in.
