canister style oil filter

Doing the first oil change on the 534 and want to make sure I have the parts inside in the correct order. The new element came with new canister gasket and a washer seal. Is the metal washer on the outside of the canister anything special and should it be replaced.

Also: I did a search of the forum and could not find out what the correct order of spring/washer etc, inside the canister should be. When I took it apart and cleaned everything up it looked like the new washer seal should go on the hollow bolt first; then the spring with the steel bottom against the washer seal; then the element. Is this correct?

I don't want to put this back together only to find it leaking.

I have found alot of interesting info on this site so far. Thanks.
