Picked up my 2010 Expy - instant neck pain

So I picked up my 2010 Expy yesterday and immediately noticed the head rests are bent forward at a ridiculous angle with no adjustment.. My 10 minute commute to work resulted in neck pain. A quick internet search reveals this to be a huge issue with all late model Fords.. Surprised I never came across this earlier! Looks like I will either have to bend the poles or flip them backwards.. How does ford expect someone to drive like this??

It's never bothered me and I'm a pretty big person. I have never even heard of this issue.

Check out the F150 forums for 09 and up. Same problem. Some pulled them out and turned then around.

Yes, google it, many people complaining.. I am 6'5 and it is tilting my head forward, might just take getting used to but feels very uncomfortable. I also find to compensate I have to tilt the back of my seat more which really takes away from my kids leg room. I already tried flipping them around but I could not get them out.. I looked for the little spring clip like on the second row and didn't see one.. I also heard of people buying headrests for a different ford vehicle that fit better..

Wondering if I buy a set of the aftermarket DVD head rests can I tie those in to the factory rear dvd player? Either that or buy a pair of headrests from an 07.. Anyone have any charcoal leather headrests from an 07 expy?

When I read the topic, I thought that you got whiplash from the Expedition's excessive acceleration power.
Anyway, the head rest do suck, and I believe Ford designed it that way to reduce whiplash in rear end collisions. I'm not convinced that it's neccessary to give the drivers humpbacks in order to reduce whiplash though.

My 07 has the same thing. To compensate, we raised the headrests so the back of your head contacts lower, as well as reclining the seat a little more. Ford did it for whiplash crash test ratings. I've been tempted to pull them off, heat the metal, and try to bend them, but it's wifey's daily driver, and they really don't bug her enough (she's short).

Should be much to bend the metal or have an upholstery shop put new bars with less of an angle on them.

I just returned my 07 and I was 100% comfortable in it.. Drove it 12 hrs one day with zero issues.. This one bothers me after a few minutes.. Unless your headrests were upgraded to the newer style I think your 07 should have much less of an angle on them.. Pop in to a dealer and sit in a 2010 or just look through the window.. You will see what I am talking about..

Can you take a pic of the headrest showing the pitch on it? I am curious is my 08 has the same angle.

Ok, have a look.. Sadly, I am getting somewhat used to it.. But still no where near as comfortable as in my 07.. I still think this design is totally ridiculous.. So I have to sit uncomfortable for 365 days a year on the off chance I might get rear ended? This should be an active system.. Someone please post a pic of an 07/08 from the same vantage point so we can appreciate the difference..

Wow, that does look a lot further forward than my 07. That sucks man, if mine were cocked that far forward they'd be in a bench vice fast enough to make your head spin...

Wow. That is rediculously slanted. I guess the expy seat designers were descendants of Quasimodo.

Does anyone have an 09 and can post a pic? It looks like every year it has gotten worse. Could you by some from an 07 and use those? Should work.
