HELP! What is another name for the Fuel Filter Restriction Sensor

1997 F-250 PSD

I found my fuel filter restriction sensor leaking this evening! Is there another name for that part so that I can find it at advance auto, autozone, or napa? I have those stores local, but the dealership here does not carry parts. The leak is about a drop every two to three seconds, so it's a decent leak.

I gotta drive the truck like that tomorrow, and I'll fix it in the evening!

Thanks auto gawds!

Tim

1/8" NPT plug from the hardware store will fix it also. Careful on the R & R in any case. The FPR (the thing the sensor is attached to) is pretty fragile. Could crack if you over tighten the plug or sensor.

Thanks guys, I cannot justify spending the $70 from a stealership for the part and shipping. Today, I installed a 3/8" brass pipe pung/end cap into the space. I dont remember the thread pitch, but it was either 18 or 20 tpi. The pipe bung was a whopping 37 cents. I might put the right part in eventually, but probably not. I'm a cheap azz.

(not so)advance auto, autostoned, and crapa could not get me a new sensor, no matter what i called it. Such is life.

Thanks all!

Fuel Filter Vacuum / Restriction Sensor

Seriously? I can just plug the hole and move on with my life?

What are the downsides of just plugging the hole and moving on, instead of buying and installing a new fuel filter vacuum switch or fuel filter restriction sensor, or whatever it's called?

Thanks,

Dick

Yep. Just keep up on your fuel filter changes and keep the return screen in the bowl clean. Don't tighten the plug to tight. Could crack the FPR.

Thanks

OK, 1/8th inch 18 or 20 threads per inch, right?

Anything special as a washer when I plug this? What length should I use? The thing is dripping 1 per second now, and I'd like to get 18 MPG on my 1996 f-250 power-stroke that has 291,000 miles, instead of the 16.5 I'm getting now. Of course, when I change the gears from 4:10 that may help, as will adding a Banks programer... anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Dick
