Sliding rear window question
On Josh's 79 he got me a LMC window gasket set. I am not please with the fitment of them. The windshield and the rear window leak. Now with the rear window leaking for the past year there is RUST coming thru the new paint because the cab corners must be getting water down in where I could not get paint.
ANYWAY. I am going to rip this POS gasket out and have to repaint the entire back of the cab when i fix the cab corner rust. My question is.... where do i get a good gasket and which one do i need. This is the rear window. The latch says PASSPORT. But that is it

You could have a Passport rear window, or an OEM window with a Passport latch, since the original latches were plastic and broke if you looked at them funny. From what I understand, the same rubber was used thru 1996, so you could probably still get it from Ford. Search rear window rubber in here, I seem to remember somebody had a fix for leaking corners.

It's aftermarket due to the fact the POS Ford latch (that broke when you looked at) cannot be replaced with another type.
Here's the whole tamale.

Yeah, the Passport window does work with the OEM rubber. I know because I failed to tie down a tiller in my Dad's truck once and replaced the broken and mangled OEM window with a Passport. LOL. Did not know the latch would not work on the OEM though.

How much?
Did you happen to call the Ford dealer I listed that had a sliding rear window kit...to see what he wanted for it?
Besides the one gen-u-ine FORD kit I listed, there are 34 others available from dealers.
Obsolete parts cannot be returned to FoMoCo, which means the dealers are STUCK with them.
When this occurs, the parts can usually be bought between MSRP and dealer net cost...or less.

While the complete assembly interchanges 1973/96 (see post #5), the weatherstrip does not.

The slider in the 97 and 98 F250/F350 only would be the same also! yes?

After reading the posts, I called Green Sales Co. and asked about the slider window rubber and he advised that they are using a reproduction that sells for $75. He added that he had the vertical weatherstrips for the two Slider portions of the window for $6 each in case you need those. Really nice guy on the phone too.
The question I had that he could not help with is the tiny gasket that goes around each of the four separate sections of the slider window that is in between the metal and the glass of each panel. He said he could not find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on what might work or where I might go to get something that would work. The gasket seems to be shrinking from the heat and pulling out from between the glass and the metal on two of the four glass sections. Anyone have a suggestion?
