general 70's frame perch question
67-79, despite minor mods in 77, the 2wd perches all appear the same. What I have are 351M/400 4x4 perches from 1979, and am wondering if these bolt in the same as the older 67-77 4x4's with FE's. I don't think they will, but just making sure. Secondly, if they don't, I'd like to see photos, if anyone has them, of the earlier FE 4x4 perches mounted and/or separated.

For an engine test stand I would just use some 2" square tubing with flat mounts to bolt directly to the engine block.
There are neat wood test stands on Youtube, not that I would go that route, but shows that not much is actually needed to start an engine out of a vehicle.
Do the 4X4 frames have two sets of holes like the 2WD versions? In the case of the FE perches they are mounted in the rear holes, whereas a straight-6 is bolted to the front holes. Same perch.
Do the 351M/400 and 460 share the same perches?

They do have two sets of holes, which when I swapped the 300 6 into my '79 Bronco, I used those other holes, IIRC however they wouldn't line up with the rear holes like an FE would? This engine test stand is going to be trailer mounted. The trailer is a truck frame (not a Ford), and is already near done. It's the standard 34" wide, so just bolting on the mounts would do the trick. If the 4x4 FE and 4x4 300-6 share the same perches, then I guess I could measure my '79 or '78 frame, and relocate the holes back where the V8 would normally go. Thinking out loud: They may even share two of the holes, but may need to drill separate holes for each perch when it comes time to swap between all of the Ford engines and their matching perches.
