1998 7.3 Diesel

Hi
OK, so this may be a silly question, but why is the 1998 7.3 diesel not mentioned in the year breaks? For example 1994.5 to 1997 and then 1999 - 2003. What happened to 1998!? Im looking at buying an '98 E350, but want to make sure it's not an odd ball!
Thanks

Because Ford got all excited about introducing the new Super Duty. They rolled out the 1999 model trucks in 1998. Kind of the same way they rolled out the 2008 in 2007, and they're already selling the 2011 trucks now in 2010. The difference in the 99 and the newer roll outs is there are 2007 and 2010 trucks out there. On the newer stuff it was a big motor change made with the roll out (due to EPA regulations). On the 99, it was a few motor tweaks with a major body overhaul.

Ah I see! Thanks. So my '98 E350 is actually a '99 in motor terms?

Thanks for the clarification! I just joined (12/11/2010) and have been baffled by lack of a "1998". I just bought a 1998 E350 7.3 PSD Club Wagon and am trying to educate myself. Mine has 289,000, but the local Ford dealer diesel truck service manager said it was in good shape. Looks like it has a recent Remanufactured trans.
