HEI conversion how to
Hey everybody,
Just got done swapping my 82 bronco, 351w to an HEI set up. I got it on ebay from skipwhite performance. It was one of the easiest upgrades ive ever done on a car or truck. It now runs MUCH smoother and quieter. I used to be able to feel a slight lope while the truck sat at a red light, now I have to look at the tach to make sure its still running! Acceleration is smooth through all 4 gears. If anyone is considering this mod, I reccomend going through skip white, they were very helpful and easy to deal with, plus I got the complete distributor with coil and cap for only $52 shipped! Any how to questions hit me up and Ill be glad to help.

You just performed the classic "Magazine test." That is where a magazine takes a vehicle with old, worn-out stock parts (32 year old Duraspark ignition) and replaces them with the latest, brand-new aftermarket parts (Skip White Performance HEI ignition) and uses before/after tests to "prove" the aftermarket stuff is superior to the stock parts. But was it? Or was it just new?

Once swapped new duraspark II components for old duraspark II coil/module, then new duraspark components for a tfi coil/ HEI module using same duraspark II distributor.
Anecdotally speaking, cold starts improved dramstically.
Personally would not hesitate to use an HEI distributor designed for the SBF.

I did this conversion also. It was ridiculously simple to do..
The primary reason I did this was because I am somewhat modding my truck, and wanted to minimize the amount of wires to the engine. With an HEI, I was able to remove the separate coil and module...
I got mine from ebay. It was around $50 shipped. I was thinking... If it works, then great... If not, then I'll ship it back or just eat the cost and buy another distributor. It worked flawlessly and I've had zero issues with it. Not sure of the longevity with it though, but so far.. nice.
