Preferred method (to avoid embarassment)
1. Open glove compartment
2. Find strange sized paperback provided with vehicle
3. Confirm it has Ford F150 Owner's Manual written on the front
4. Skim book for relevant topic
5. Follow instructions

Alternate method (to encourage harassment)
Depending on your truck (thanks for all the information by the way), it's on page 91 or 103.

Oops, too late, you have already selected the alternate method...

STANDARD MESSAGE CENTER (IF EQUIPPED)
With the ignition in the on position, the message center, located on your
instrument cluster, displays important vehicle information through a
constant monitor of vehicle systems. You may select display features
on the message center for a display of status preceded by a brief
indicator chime. The system will also notify you of potential vehicle
problems with a display of system warnings followed by a long indicator
chime.
Selectable features
Press and release the SELECT/RESET stem, located in the speedometer,
to scroll and reset the following functions. Select or reset the function by
pressing and holding the SELECT/RESET stem for more than two
seconds.

Setup Menu
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET stem to get into the SETUP menu
sequence from the INFO menu for the following items:
• Oil Life
• Units (English/Metric)
• Rear Park Aid (if equipped)
• Autolamp (if equipped)
• Autolock (if equipped)
• Autounlock (if equipped)
• Easy Entry (if equipped)
• Trailer Sway (if equipped)
• Language
• Reset to English–if in another language (see Note below)
Note: When returning to the
SETUP menu and a non-English
language has been selected, HOLD
RESET FOR ENGLISH will be
displayed to change back to English.
Press and hold the SELECT/RESET
stem to change back to English.
Oil Life XXX% HOLD RESET = NEW
An oil change is required whenever indicated by the message center.
USE ONLY RECOMMENDED ENGINE OILS.

To reset the oil monitoring system to 100% after each oil change
[approximately 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six months] perform the
following:
1. Press and release the
SELECT/RESET stem to display OIL
LIFE = XXX% HOLD RESET =
NEW.
2. Press and hold the
SELECT/RESET stem for two
seconds and release. Oil life is set to
100% and “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed.
3. While “OIL LIFE SET TO 100%”
is displayed, if a lower oil life start value is desired, press and release the
RESET control to reduce the start value. Each press of the
SELECT/RESET stem reduces the value by 10 percent.
Note: Oil life start value of 100% equals 7,500 miles (12,000 km) or six
months. For example, setting oil life start value to 60% sets the oil life
start value to 4,500 miles (7,200 km) and 108 days.

That looks way harder than just looking at the oil change reminder sticker in the corner of the windshield and replacing when you do an oil change. And it doesn't even tell you what kind of oil you're using. LOL

Thanks for the info. I'm in my work van and the mechanics never reset the light and for some reason they take the owners manuals out of the vans when they first get them in.

It's actually pretty easy once you do it.

It looks complex on paper, but it's not.

I have a 2012 F150 XL. The procedures mentioned above don't apply to my model (I don't have a message center, just a 2 line LED readout), and there is nothing in the owner's manual about resetting the "oil change required" message.

Any help would be appreciated.
