Try and put a 10 inch wheel with enough backspacing to keep it flush on the truck and see what happens. You won't find such a wheel because they don't fit. This isn't a function of whether they hit the springs or rub or something, it physically doesn't fit on the truck because of the knuckle.

You are right, width doesn't determine (backspacing) if it sticks out.

However a 10 inch wide wheel that will FIT on a SUPERDUTY WILL stick out. There is no way around this. You have to go to a larger diameter wheel to have a wide tire that doesn't stick out.

Yes a 10 inch wheel with the same backspacing as an 8 inch wheel will stick out more, this is exactly what happens. You can't have enough backspacing to keep the wheel under the fender because of the steering knuckle.

Eh, sorry cranky this morn.

I didn't think about the knuckle, my 10" wide wheels were 18s. Correct, given the same backspace, a 10" wide wheel will stick out further than a 8" wheel... given the same backspace. You need to look at the offset (preferred) or the backspace/width combo.

Yes, that is my main concern. that is why i was comptenplating going with a 16x8 to avoid the wheels sticking outside the wheel well and the offset should be closer to stock than most 16x10. I'm just not sure if only 1" wider wheel will make that much of a difference in the handling.

16x8 should be fine. That size is fine with my Toyo ATs and the Duratrac is a higher load tire, so should be more stable.

Did your lift change the position of your leaf spring?

Do the tires rub?

Just figured I would throw my two cents in here. I have a set on the factory lariat wheels that are 285's and after driving 800 miles on the new tires, I have noticed most of the squirm is gone. They still have a little, but that is to be expected with a high depth low contact block tire. I am running 80/80, yes 80 front and rear and think it rides fine, so you might try to up the pressure a bit. Watch the wear pattern though. Oh, and nice pickup; looks like mine except the gold lower rockers.

Nope the springs didnt get relocated and no rub even at full lock. I researched what off-set I would need (here at FTE) and bought the corresponding spec'd wheels

I must not have caught it earlier. Yeah, I am not recommending going more than the max inflation pressure on the sidewall. I was thinking those were E load range with an inflation of 80psi @ 3750lbs ground rating. My mistake.

They are Load range E, but they are just rated for 65 PSI. Only because of the size i guess.

Update:

I finally checked my tire pressure today (should've checked right after mounting), and found the front to be 60 psi and the rear to be 80 psi. i guess sears went off the door sticker instead of the tire. After getting them to 65, i noticed a lot better handling and less roll. Also, these are great on wet pavement, which was one of my main concerns. I can damn near floor it froma dead stop and they dont lose traction. Still don't have enough miles to comment on wear. Also, after further inspection, i notice that they rub on the driver's side plastic liner in the rear. easily fixed with some minor trimming. I still love the tires though. I am glad I went with the 315's instead of the 285's. With my truck being leveled, 285's just looked too small for my liking.
