The PERFECT Burnout!

You could power-brake it really easy with a Lightning. Just enough brake pedal pressure to keep the front tires from rolling. The important thing is to do the burnout in the parking lot behind the tire store where you are getting the new tires put on. That way if you burn through a tire and blow it out you won't have far to go to get it replaced.

^OHHHH MANNN That would be the second worst thing ever, worst would be the SRT 10 move.

I'm 22 and only owned the truck since last august, and it's been in storage since October. I have had a Honda Prelude for 2 years and it's a 4 banger FWD so I have never done a proper burn out.

There's one out there where the guy lights his brakes on fire because he doesn't have a line lock and he does the burnout too long, superheating the rear brakes.
Wet your tires down, roll forward slowly as you gently apply more and more brake pressure. Just as your truck comes to a stop, with the weight still being transferred forward from the braking, apply enough pedal to brake the rears loose. As they break loose, apply more pedal to bring the rpm's up and burn 'em off. Just remember, burn outs can be rough on the trans because of the heat generated. Don't hold the burn out too long.

Stewart's right, you don't want to do this to your tranny.

As much as I like the V10 platform, the power curve just didn't appeal to me, that why I ended up with my second 7.3L. But if I had enough cash to do a setup like you're contemplating, huuuuu-doggie would I be grinnin' all the time as I burned through yet another set of tires!

An FTE member did this one on his V10 Excursion.

As far as doing the perfect burnout, if you have an automatic tranny which most likely you do, put it in low gear and push the brake in just enough to keep it from rolling.
If you have a manual, use the left foot to push in the clutch and the right foot to push the brake and the throttle at once. Spike the throttle up to around 3-4K to break the tires lose, then drop the RPMs down to around 2K and let 'em roast all day long!
