gear shift won't move out of park

My gear shift on a 2003 ford f150 pu wouldn't come out of park. Changed brake light switch and checked fuses. There is one fuse that if I take it out. I can then shift. My windshield wipers quit working too. When from working to not working over night.

Sounds like a cheap fix. Check the wiring in the column with emphasis where the tilt pivot is for the wiper problem.

What ever stopped the shifter also has to do with wipers. They went out at same time.

Ok back at it. Does anyone know what the interlock selonoid looks like and where it is located. I figure if I can find it, I can change it....

See your owner's manual for shift interlock bypass instructions.

The wipers and shift interlock have nothing in common.

It is unlikely that the interlock is bad. Most likely, you have a fault related to the brake lamp switch circuit.

On the brake master cylinder is a two prong switch that screws into it. If it cracks in middle where you can't see it. Fluid will leak into the prongs and blow the #15 fuse which takes out window wipers and inside light and gear shifter will not come out of park. Replace switch and fuse and all will work. Part cost $20.00. I have been told several different things for this switch. I was told it was a hydrolic switch, A brake fluid switch and a switch that runs the cruise control. I think it is the switch that runs the cruise control and that they had a recall on. Any way truck works perfect and thanks for everyones help.
