Super Duty's from 99-02 (if equipped) are power only - NON-lit, and NON-heated.
Starting in 03 (if equipped) they came pre-wired for power, lights & heat.

If you have a 99-02 you can use the stock pre-wired power wires to run the mirror adjustments. And you can tap into other wires for directional and heat feeds.

There are LOTS of write-ups out there on adapting 03+ mirrors to 99-02 trucks.
I'm just waiting to come across some 08's at the right price.

check out 2008 Ford Super Duty Towing Mirror Retrofit Kit for 99-2007 F250 F350 F450 Trucks. They have the entire fold and telescope 08 type. $1500 bucks though. I am waiting for something cheaper.

Got them installed, bought them off ebay. No wiring, plugged right up. Boy, now i can see those objects lurking around the sides and rear of vehicle. Literally took me 10 minutes per side.

Same here. I am looking into designing a retro fit kit that will allow non-folders/telescopers to be converted. Hopefully I will also be able to develop a kit that converts the pre-08s too. The glories of having a machine shop at my disposal.

On another note, my mirrors are becoming stiff to pull out / push in. Any recommendations on the best way to lube them and what type of lube. I was thinking a light coat of lithium

I currently like my concave towing mirrors, I just wish I had the side lights.

2005 Ford F-350 Mirrors - AM Autoparts
Great link!

Do you know who makes those mirrors they sell and more importantly have you been happy with them?

That is the best price by far I have seen for a set of signal mirrors. I hate not having the lights on my '02 and despite everyones enthusiasm for the 2008+ mirrors, I DO NOT like the looks of them... Way too square and blocky for my taste as well as the main mirror actually being smaller in size. I love the look and function of my towing mirrors, but I just need the lights in them.

I've been looking on Ebay for some take-off OEM mirrors but every time I find a set they want your first born for a scratched up used set.

Im about to buy an 07 F250 with the small power mirrors, my question, Does Ford normally use the same wire harness for all models and just not employ some of the features? EG power but no signal, would the add on mirror with turn signal feature perhaps plug into the harness and voila, Turn signals on the mirror???

I plan on buying a set from 1aauto.com They make a great product at a very good price and warranty. Used them on my 05 Silverado and they were awsome.

I got a pair of manual '08s for my '03 and am VERY happy with them. Any 'adjusting' that's required now helps to increase the ammount of excercise I get

Nooo, do not get the 2008+ mirrors, they suck! The 2003's are so much better, you should buy mine when I take them off to do the... um, well, nevermind WHY I am taking mine off.

I also bought a set full manual, non-lighted mirrors from a 2009 F-something50 XL for about $215 shipped from a wrecking yard in MN to SoCal. I saved only $100 by going used vs. new (from Ed & his shipping was more $$) and was concerned about used. Once they arrived, that concern was "out the window" They are "like new". I wanted OEM and didn't want to pay extra cash for power/lights. I couldv'e gotten the new Kool-Vue for about a little over $400, but I was spooked over some of the things I read about vibration. Installation was a breeze and they are a big improvement over the paddle mirrors. I also get a little exercise

Let me know. I love the '08 mirrors I probably can't afford them but PM me anyway.
