Heater Hose Routing with cooled carb spacer
I've got a 390 with a carb spacer that runs the water thru it and I can't find any pics in the manuals that show how the hoses go.
I have
1 outlet from the water pump
2 from the front of the intake (one goes back to carb spacer)
1 from the front of the carb spacer
1 from the rear of the carb spacer
2 to the heater core
Which hose holds the heater control valve too?
I'm guessing one goes straight to the heater core from the water pump and one goes from heater core back to the intake, but what about the rear of the carb spacer?
Thanks, KarlJay.

If you check my Gallery, I have a pretty good shot where some of the hoses should go. One of the hoses looks a little short (It was the wrong length), but it should hopefully give you a pretty good idea. My motor is in the process of being put back together. Hopefully within the next few weeks my truck will be on the road

Hi Karl, I'm trying to picture it now…
Starting at the T fitting out of the intake, the hose bib facing directly back goes to the front of the carb. heated spacer. From the back of the spacer, it goes to a T on the return side of the heater core, then back to the water pump. This way coolant is always running through the spacer even with the heater control valve off. The heater return line is the fitting closest to the fender.
The other fitting on the intake T goes to the heater control valve and then into the heater.
I think that’s right, I have a diagram at home that I can scan tomorrow if you want.

Hi James, I didn’t want to say anything ‘cause I was just going by memory but yours didn’t look quite right. Have the diagram now and it looks just the way I described it (got lucky). It’s from group 16, page 18 of the ’68 Ford truck shop manual, vol. 3.
If you’re all interested, pm me your email addresses and I can send you a scan, it’s approximately a 300Kb GIF image.

Thanks! yeah, thats where my truck came from. I was the sole bidder on it... paid 500 bucks for it. It took a little work to get it running... but its well worth what I paid for it. Of course I have put brakes, rebuilt the motor, and a few other things, but I plan on having it for a long time to come.
