Front tank fuel check valve..

Front tank fuel check valve..
Does anyone know where exactly the front gas tank check valve is located? My '92 had the recall done some years ago(unsure when, maybe 10 years ago) but now the front tank is filling from the rear when I'm running off the rear tank.
The shop wants $194 for the repair of the check valve. Only check valve I can seem to locate is the one inside the fuel tank with the fuel pump. Anyone run into this before after the recall has already been performed?

If you had the recall done the check valve is located on top of the fuel tank.
The Fuel supply pressure hose plugs into the check valve and the check valve plugs into the tube going into the fuel tank.
But if it is filling now with the check valve in place then I would say your shuttle valve is now bad and it is located inside the fuel delivery module. The shuttle valve is for the return fuel from the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR).
Note:
If the shuttle valve will not open in the other tanks FDM this may force the shutttle valve in the filling tank to pass fuel as it is not a check valve.
That is why if you take it to FORD they will want to change both FDM in both tanks.

Thanks for the info.
I was betting on the shuttle valve being bad. I may be right.
What is all involved in a new FDM. The Ford shop said $194 to fix the problem. I'm mechanically inclined to do the work, but don't know what all is going to be rquired. I would bet on a new fuel pump.
I also understand that there has to be a new wiring harness installed too.
Thanks for the help!

There is no new wiring harness needed.
You need to get access to the FDM at top of the tank. You can get to it by dropping the tank or taking the bed off.
You will need the fuel line disconnect tools and two vice grips to tap the ring around on top of the FDM to take the ring off.
Each FDM will cost about $150.00.
Cut and crimp on the wires of the new one:
