put egr bypss kit on my 6.0 everything went well ,the problem now is that I cannot keep my check engine light off , its pulling a code on the egr system. any one know the solution to this problem?

 

I suppose you removed the EGR valve in this process. From what I understand, some 05's and all 06-07's will through a code with the EGR valve disconnected. You will need a tune to turn it off (egr system).

Or, Take the old EGR valve, plug it back in but secured to a safe place...

See if that allow you to clear the CEL.

 

no did not remove egr just bypass.

 

at first thought it was a bad egr ,so I replaced it with a new one.i have had a couple of guys tell me this is common with 06 and up and they want me to buy a handheld computer that will decode the egr for $350.

 

You probably need to beg, borrow, or steal a programmer to turn off the EGR ....

It is not just detecting the EGR, but the absence of EGR gas flow... ack.

 

Is the code that you are getting an EGR flow code? If so then the only way that I'm aware of to clear it is to get a custom tuner that disables the sensor and that should clear the code. Be the way I run an EGR bypass system as well, although mine was fabricated at the muffler shop, not a commercially bought one.

 

this is exactly what I was told ,I just thought there would be a simpler way to do it without spending 3 or 4 hundred dollars, on a tuner.thanks for the heads up. I guess my next question is where is the best place to go buy a tuner.?

 

AutoEngenuity is the one that many on here says is next thing to what the dealer can do....

I wouldn't know because I work off a $50 code reader.

 

AutoEnginuity won't fix his EGR issue. That has to be done with something that can flash the trucks computer. To my knowledge, it can tweak certain parameters within each of the 9 modules on our truck, but it can't disable the EGR system, except I think for a short amount of time to test things, but once you disconnect the connection it reverts back to whatever the programming on the computer is.

Now for code readings, re-calibrating the speedo and a plethora of other options, AE is the best.

 

after doing a little reserch youare exactly correct! the autoenginuity is basically nothing but a reader not a delete system for the computer.

 

Oh no, it's not basically a reader only. Don't think that. It's only for diagnostic purposes. It does more then just read codes, it actuates commands, dataloges, code reads and run tests. However, as far as programming that is where it's somewhat limited and only limited to certain things as well. Not intensive programming like programming the ECM/TCM etc.
