Hey Guys,

I have a magnaflow replacement downpipe+cat. Now I hear the sound of the exhaust flowing down the pipe. Its a very annoying sound. Was the reason I never heard the sound with the stock downpipe becasue the two pipes met in a resignator? The magnaflow just meets the two pipes by welding them together. Was the purpose of the factory resignotor to dampen the sounds of the exhaust collecting as the two pipes from each side of the engine meet?

Have a pic of the magnaflow setup you got? Any exhaust leaks?

 

There is no resonator on the stock setup. The original setup had two converters, and the headpipes did join together into the front converter. Magnaflow eliminates one of the original converters because a three way converter can replace the function of the OE converters. However a smaller three way cat does not replace the sound absorbing qualities of the OE setup. So I can see how you can get strange sounds.

I know which one I would get. Don't know what you paid for the Magnaflow, but they have tendency of giving you less than what you deserve because they are a big brand name and Mario Andretti doesn't come cheap.

 

Thank You! I Had Been Trying To Find The OEM Setup For A Long Time. Now We Will See How Many Arms & Legs I Will Have To Give To Get It. That Is The Exact Magnaflow setup I Have (Which Was Horrid To Get To Fit!).
