Ramsey St. Ford Banning, CA

Ramsey St. Ford in Banning, California Closed its doors February 24th 2010. i just recently discovered this last week. This is the dealership that i was employed at for some time as a lot porter, then i was promoted to assistant technician. with so many companies drinking the governments Kool-aid just to keep their dealerships going, i found it sad to see it closed. but it was re-asuring that instead of throwing in the towel, Ford continues to fight through the economic hardship. One dealership may have closed down in my area, but how many dealerships did it save? If youve seen a dealership close in your area, post it here, and we can figure out wether or not Ford is winning the good fight, or if they are merly the one-legged man in an ***-kicking contest.

Ford is doing a good job in staying afloat. Sacrifices have to made. I hope the people that lost their job find something soon. That part always sucks.

We've seen a lot of Ford dealerships around the LA area close in the last couple of years. I'm sure it adds another dynamic to it when it's the one that employs you though.

Good luck in the job search Landon.

i was not employed there when it closed, ive been long gone since then. since im not ASE certified it was difficult for me to find a job in the automotive industry other than a grease monkey. so i started working road construction with my father, at a company based in Anaheim. the pay is great, and the benefits are awesome because its a union job. my concern is for my friend who was employed there. he has 5 kids and FULL custody of each one. I hope he found somethin good.

FTE sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM (Ed Olson) was a former parts manager of the dealership in Banning when it was known as Future Ford.

Prior to Ed, the parts manager was Ron Jacques. Ron took the job after I turned it down.

Over the past two years, 22 LA LA Land Ford Dealers have closed, some of which were:

Pasadena, El Monte, Beverly Hills, Burch Ford in La Habra, New Century Ford in San Gabriel, Moss Motors in Colton, Ford West in Bellflower, Don Kott in Carson, Crenshaw Motors in South Central LA, Valley Park Ford in Canoga Park, Midway Ford in central LA.

From the 1920's thru the 1940's, there were ten Ford Dealers in downtown LA...alone. Today, there are none.

In 1927, there were 10,000 US Ford Dealers. Today, there are about 5,000. These figures do not include Lincoln/Fordson or L/M dealerships.

Plus Board Ford in Whittier and Downey Ford.

Whittier alone has lost Ford, GMC, Saturn, Dodge, Mitsubishi, and Kia, that I recall off the top of my head.

Ford started closing them on their own austerity plan timetable, before the economy forced all the others out.
