straight pipes will sound ok but not good, if you just want loud its good but daily driving wont be fun. if you get a cat back you will be better off. i have an edelbrock sdt (saleen edition) cat back and it is nice, loud when you want and fair when you want (cops) i only paid like $180 on ebay (new)

Just do it and see if you like it. Should not cost but $20 at a muffler shop.

I put a Thrush muffler on and no piping at all after the muffler. I got the Thrush at cost from a friend. $25+tax and I installed myself. I think it sounds pretty damn good

my 04 5.4 is straight piped, sounds fantastic, i turn off the stereo just to hear her pull the hill, or echo in between buildings or off barracades...but if i let off the throttle, hardly audible, never even had a cop give a warning for noise, had it done 6 yrs ago...
