2009 Expy EB 2nd. row vinyl?

I've had my '09 Expy Eb for a few months now and only recently spent time looking at the seats. It's fairly obvious the only leather on the fronts is the actual panels that your back and butt touch, the sides, back and headrests are clearly vinyl, good vinyl, but vinyl nonetheless. In addition the second row also seems to be the same high quality vinyl. I bought the truck used with very low mileage, my guess it was originally a fleet or rental. Is this something they do to cut costs on fleet trucks or are all EB's equipped this way?

The 2nd row has leather. It's just the inner square your but sits on and the square your lower back touches. The 3rd row is 100% vinyl.

Son of a beech, I looked a little closer and that's the way mine are. Kind of chintzy if you ask me.

Yeah, I agree. Not only is the amount of leather lean, the quality is not the best. Keep it clean by cleaning it with a warm damp clean terry cloth towel and use a high quality vinyl protectant like 303 or Vinylex. The leather is coated with a pvc coating to protect the leather, this coating is what you need to keep in good shape to keep the seats in good shape.

This has been going on for quite a while in all makes, Mercedes even uses vinyl as standard material, they call it MB Tex or something like that. My suburban was the same way as the expy, vinyl everywhere but the butt and back sections. That said, it appears the expy has a much higher quality material on the entire seat, time will tell. Ford also has a much better exterior paint, noticed that on my 98 expy also. Lets hope the expy proves as bulletproof as the suburban!

we'll see.

I was annoyed by it when I discovered my 06 FX4 has leather/vinyl seats.

if my past Fords are any indication, I am expecting many years of good looking seats. My 93 Bronco with 283,000 miles looked amazing after 12 years of high mileage. Hope that transfers to the new models
