Boy are these nice tires! A little firmer ride than the stock 255/70/18 Pirelli's, but I'm willing to trade that for the 70k mile warranty. I have always put the original LTX M/S on my other trucks and look forward to seeing how the "2" version compares.

I upsized to 275/65/18 because the selection of tires in the Dallas area at the stock 255/70 size was very limited. Only 9 choices at Discount Tire (only 3 at NTB!), but 27 choices in the bigger size. The tire diameter is exactly the same, so no speedometer issues, and no rubbing at all. They look nice and beefy compared to the stockers,

I'm very happy, we'll see how they last!

Those are the same tires I replaced my crappy Pirelli's with. I was short on money last year (who wasn't) but I was able to find some low mileage Tundra take off's on Craigslist for real cheap. 4 Michelins LTX's installed for <$200 was a bargin (after I sold the stock tundra wheels & tire sensors). I'd recommend to anyone with the 18" wheels to check craigslist for Tundra takeoff's.

 

You should like them a lot, just put them on two service trucks, one F-350 SRW and one 1500 GMC Sierra, both guys LOVE them in the florida rain. I also have to say that the Sierra gets around a lot of places I'd never expect with these tires. They are quite on the highway, while they don't wear like the LTX M/S they wear very well. They also seem to hook up well in the rain and on asphalt.

 

Well, I'm hoping that I get more miles than the original LTX M/S, as they are rated higher. If not, I'll just get more back in credit from Discount Tire.

I towed a flatbed uhaul car transport with a Ford Escape as payload (just shy of 6klbs total) 1050 miles from Ohio back to Texas through the hills of KY and TN and awful head and cross winds in AK and TX and the tires felt very stable the whole way. It was a great feeling!

 

Hey dbtx - Congrats on the new tires! I have been looking at these and in the size you upsized to. If you don't mind my asking, what did the set of 4 run you cost wise? I see Discount Tire is also running a $70 mail-in rebate on a set of 4 Michelins so needless to say I'm very tempted to replace my stock Pirelli Scorpion STRa's. Have 36k on them now and they are about done. I also tow a 7k Travel Trailer so I think I will go with the LT275's. Did you get the LT's also or the P275's? Thanks.

 

rhc - just over $1000 installed with tax, so right at or slightly under $1k after rebate. Yeah, they're blasted expensive, but if they last twice as long (which I believe they will) as the stock tires, I think they're worth it. Getting Scorpion replacements would have saved about $200, but we only got about 26k out of the stock tires.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the LT version. The LTX M/S Load Range E LT tires we put on our Excursion felt like they were made of solid rubber. Yes, super stable when towing, but noticeably rough the rest of the time.

The Pirellis have always felt very stable when towing our 7k Travel Trailer, and the load capacity on the 275/65 Michelins is another couple hundred pounds per tire higher. That made me not give a second thought about skipping the LT option.

 

These michelins are suppose to be the best tire..basically ever made in a truck/suv category.

Are the Michelins really that good and worth the price. I typically like Cooper tires but I am not impressed with the mileage capabilities. My current set of Cooper ATR's only have about 25k miles and they are about shot and I may get about 30k out of them and this is a 50k tire. I don't mind paying for tires as long as they wear good, handle well and can take the load.

Sorry man-I only have about 2500 on mine. I love them so far and they don't look worn. I know my last ltx ms only got about 40k on two of them (the old model tire), but I got a credit for new ones (70k mile tire). Also my old screw for some reason ate front tires and brakes. Hopefully some one will chime in with more mileage but I am not sure how long this model tire has been out either. Mike

 

I have heard many people complain about the milage they getting out of their Cooper's. My family has had at least 8 sets of Coopers and they have been great. But I hear they are being in made out of the country now, maybe that has something to do with it?

 

I just traded my 2000 Nav with 17in LTX's---there was probably a good 5K miles left and I would have replaced them this fall. But decided to buy a new Nav. The 2000 Nav had the LTX's on for 70,000 miles and they were still going strong---they were just great---we off roaded in Wyoming and got into terrible sharp rock areas---the tires held up great and continued to run strong. Highly recommended---great riding tire and I did get the mileage---I paid about $900 for them but that was a few yrs ago. A tire person warned me to not run them after that off road as we probably broke belts---but they ran with no problems for two more yrs coast to coast!

 

I just got a set of these in 20 inch for my 08 EXP from Tire Rack. Paid $988 shipped to a Sears Auto. Sears installed for about $45. They showed me the uneven wear on my stock Pirelli's and recommended an alignment. Truck has just under 35K so I went with the alignment considering what I paid for the Michelins. Looks like I made the right decision from what I see on this board.
