I have a 2008 Ford Expedition EB with the factory installed Sirius satellite and Rear Entertainment system. All systems were working fine. The menu on my radio said DVD Menu (meaning the movie had finished) so I decided to change out the movie for my granddaughter. The disc ejected and I put another in and nothing! It will eject and load and the lights will come on while doing so then again...nothing. There is no FORD screen saver on it at anytime now either. Then I tried to go to my satellite radio and no satellite. I do have functioning AM-FM-CD. When I hit Aux it goes to line-in, Sat1, Sat2, Sat3......no longer shows DVD function at all. I checked the fuses under the dash (passenger side) and also under the hood. All seem to be fine............HELP PLEASE. Did I hit something to lock it all out? Is there a reset/reboot button I can hit. Can't really afford to take it to the Ford dealership for them to fudge with for 4-5 hours. Any suggestions? Thanks...

 

Try disconnecting the battery.

 

Thanks Eric, will try that......but will I create any other probs by doing that? I know I'll lose my clock and preset stations but will that be the worse? Also, do I need to undo both cables or will just one work? Thanks, Linda

No. Anytime you remove battery cables, it is always positive first, negative last when connecting the battery. Disconnecting the battery it is always negative first, positive last. When done in this manner you lessen the probability of having sparks when connecting or disconnecting your battery cables.

Ever seen a battery explode? I have. Not a pretty sight. Connecting your battery cables in a way that creates spark is enough to blow one up right in your face. I've seen it happen. The same thing goes when connecting jumper cables. To "erase" any memory functions, the only thing you need to do is remove the negative cable for a few minutes.

Disconnecting the battery it is always negative first, positive last." So, he is correct, just a little mixed up wording, lol. negative-positive then positive-negative. Thanks for all the help, believe it or not a little 15 amp fuse #3 solved the problem and we are back in business. Thanks all.....Linda
