Catalytic Converter Warranty from Ford?

My mechanic thinks that the catalytic converter may be the culprit for my high rpm power loss.

He told me to go back to Ford as there is an 8 year/80,000 mile warranty on the catalytic converter.

Has anyone ever heard of this warranty? I've never heard of this and only knew of the 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

I hope this warranty exists as my truck is almost 8 years old and has 76,000 miles.

Ford warranty on catalytic converters is 8 years or 80,000 miles if the vehicle is under 8500 lbs gvw. If over 8500 it is 36/36

Vehicle is a 2003 F250, 4x4, supercab, 8ft. bed, 5.4L engine. How do I tell if it's under 8500 lbs gvw?

Thanks Sully, just checked and yes 8800 lbs.

Why would Ford make the limit at 8500 lbs.? This sucks!

That knocks me out of getting it covered under warranty. Now it's back to my mechanic I guess?

I don't think it's a Ford thing. Vehicle over 8500 lbs fall under different emission regulations than under 8500 lbs. Im sure it's our wonderful government at work again.

It isn't a Ford warranty. All vehicles under 8500 GVWR must have an 8 year/80k warranty on pollution control equipment per federal law.
