What would be some symptoms of a bad map sensor?

My truck has been feeling sluggish lately and the cel came on.So I put it on the scanner and it brought up malfunctioning map sensor. So first of all i just went to the junkyard and got a used one but it didn't make a difference and the light came back on.So the truck runs fine at idle, but it just has an occassional misfire out the exhaust. And when I accelerate hard from a stop the truck just feels flat, and no power,it will cruise fine down the road but just sucks the gas and is a gutless wonder right now.So would all this be the cause of a bad or malfunctioning map sensor? Thanks guys.

It could be, but also check the vacuum line to the sensor and check the condition of the wiring back to the computer. MAP sensors aren't cheap, so make sure that the sensor is the problem before throwing down the money for a new one.

I would check the fuel pressure and also check for a restricted exhaust.

I don't recall a error code with numbers.I'll have to rescan it,but I do know that the exhaust is not restricted and the fuel pressure regulator didn't take a crap.I do know that map sensor's are not cheap, but i would rather it be that then trying to chase crap down.

Use this link to view what the frequency output of the MAP sensor should be: Ford Fuel Injection Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor (MAP)
You should be able to use a DVM that can also measure frequency to verify if yours is within range.
