Navigator redesign?

I own a 2005 Navigator Ultimate and love everything about it. However I think the 2007-2010 Navigators are just plain ugly. When will the next redesign come along?

The Navigator has always looked bad to me, certainly from the rear where it appears to have been designed by high school "customizers" on a bad day or someone trying to Bling an Expedition on a very tight budget. Wait! That was Ford's intention?!

The giant tail lights have never fitted the body design. At least according to my taste. The Aviator edition of the Explorer is a more pleasing design.

But I bought the Expedition XLT not the Limited. Tows my camper just fine and looks fine at the yacht club (when I wash it!).

I bough a limited because it costs me about 2000 more than the XLT with the options I wanted. It has enough bling, actually too much cheap bling for me (the 20s are crap). I agree with Chucks assessment of the navigtor. They slapped some chrome on the expy and tried to navi it out.

I agree. Even the Navigator truck they had Fleetwood? Looked like a joke. Lets take an Expedition, and throw $200 worth of plastic chrome and extend the tail lights into the hatch area, add some wood inside and charge $10K more.

That's it! I have only seen 3 in my life. The Mark LT is the newer version I take it.

Probably the biggest thing I don't favor about the Navigator is that the front is very nice and rounded but then it abruptly ends in the back like it was cut off like the Expy.

Does the Navigator still have a slightly different (better?) engine than the Expedition?

Other than the bling accents I found the Lincoln's interior to be a little better on the materials side.

No, they stopped that a while back. It was a 5.4L with a few more ponies back then.

My 98 Expedition had the 4.6 SOHC and the optional engine was a 5.4 SOHC, it is now gettig a 4.6 DOHC from a Mark VIII. My 2000 Navigator has the 5.4 DOHC N/A engine at about 300 hp and I read that the 2002 had a 5.4 DOHC with the supercharger putting out about 385 hp. In my opinion that IS an improvement.

sorta

the early Navi's had a 4.6 4v motor...then around 2002-2004 they got the 5.4 4v motor...but never were supercharged.

that 4.6 4v is highly sought after by the 96-04 Mustang guys. It apparently has forged internals, and is the same motor as the 01 Cobra. kinda funny, but I've heard more discussion about Navigators in the Mustang community than I ever had from an actual Expy/Navi forum

the 5.4 4v version is rated at 300 HP, and is a pretty nice motor.

@ Moto, if you can, grab the 2002-2004 Harley 5.4 2v motor with blower. it's pretty much a direct swap into your Expy, and you can run almost 400 HP with tuning & pulley
