Pinion nut

what would/could cause the pinion nut to back off.

reused pinion nut, I thought most were a interference nut, like a nylock or jamnut.

not torqued properly or the ring wasn't pounded into the notch on the pinon

thanks for the info, the pinion nut backed off and made the drive line flange wiggle a bit also lost the u joint
