Flex Fuel to Non Flex Fuel Engine Swap
03 Exploder 4.0 SOHC vin K flex fuel--timing chain cassetes are in peices. Engine is so sludged up its unbelievable. Plastic peices are everywhere. The chain ate away part of the head. I found one for 600 dollars but the only problem is it is a vin E. Non flex fuel vehicle. Somebody said that EVERYTHING is different on the two engines. Even the block is different they said. They said it would work we would have to change the fuel pump, computer, and wiring harness. I was wondering if anybody can confirm that or knows otherwise. And also, wheres the best place to buy a timing chain kit cause im gonna put one in this used motor to be safe.

I guess im on my own on this one. I cant seem to find any info about the differences anywhere on the net. When the engine arrives on monday i will know then. Were gonna pull the valve covers and look at the tensioners and cassetes and pull the oil pan and check for peices on the used engine. If theres any sign of wear, its getting new chains, sprokets, cassetes, and tensioners.

The block casting numbers were diff. But the heads were same number. The diferential pressure feedback sensor was different. Injectors were different part numbers but same color. It took me all day to swap sensors and intakes. Everything that was on the old motor is on the new now. I dont see any reason it wouldnt run unless the relucter wheel on the crank pulley or cam is different. I had to glue the spacer plate on it kept falling off while i was trying to line it up. Ill try again in the morning.
