76 F250 daily driver/project
getting close to tax time so i figure i'd make something with this truck i got. it has alot of rust and i dont think that its worth keeping the cab and bed. the only thing thats actually original to the frame is just the cab shell. i have a 79 cab that is virtually rust free that i will be swapping over. still havent got a bed yet for it. i'll update as the progress goes, but for now heres my rust situation.
someones idea of a cab mount fix for the pass. side
LH front cab mount. you can tell someone cut one from another truck and just welded it to the old one on the cab
LH floor and part of the rocker panel
LH lower firewall
LH front lower door post
LH lower radiator support
LH upper door post
RH lower firewall
RH lower door post
RH rocker panel
those were the only pics i took so far. both doors are shot as well. the only thing that really survived was the hood, inner fender aprons and the roof lol.

Mike; thanks for the comment;
This was built on a 3K budget as well. I started off with a 74 F250 Military order truck; kept the drive train & chassis and bought 76 F150 complete minus tailgate and used the body from it. Strictly on a budget; since I just finish a 78 model the same year for my daughter as her first driver; money was & is tight.
The biggest advantage was having a good friend's that's all fords and one with a complete shop & paint booth. (I got people's!!!)
But your on the right track and start with getting the basis repairs done and slowly but surely the process will come thru. As I mention I'm looking forward to seeing your success as well.
( if I can help just pm me!)

thanks Mitch for the help, i'll probly need it lol. a new problem has come up on my engine that is going to need looked at first. oil pressure isnt all that good, so i'm going to take the oil pan off tomorrow to see if the pickup screen is clogged. i also have a light knocking sound coming from the front but i think its the timing chain slapping the cover. it was a little loose when i tore the cover off awhile back. i'll know more tomorrow hopefully if the weather does'nt mess things up lol.

got the timing cover and the oil pan off. timing chain was sloppy and rubbing on the timing cover a little bit. the oil pump screen had some silicone stuck to it. i guess whoever rebuilt the motor awhile back got a little silicone happy lol.
ordered a few parts today which consist of:
comp cams magnum double roller timing chain/gear set with steel gears
melling standard pressure/volume oil pump
associated gaskets for install
skyjacker 4" lift kit with rear springs and hydro shocks
3" steering block for steering correction
new transfercase bushing kit since the ones on it now are trashed
should have most of the parts by this friday. im still debating on wether to buy the tires i want new or used but not really concerned about them at this point. will update as parts come in.

ok, some good and bad news.
good news is i got some of the parts that were ordered. got the engine parts and half of my lift kit. should have the other 3 shocks on tuesday, but no idea on the comp box thats coming from skyjacker.
bad news is, after all the stuff was ordered my sewer line decided to burst and now have to fix it before i work on the truck lol. its a never ending battle. and also the steering block from bronco graveyard is on backorder so i probly wont see it for another 2 weeks. and also the new 38's i ordered are on backorder as well for almost 3 weeks.
anyways heres a few pics of the stuff i got so far

the other 2 tires finally came in today. hopefully i will be able to put the lift and tires on this weekend or the next (depending on the wifes work schedule). my original plans have changed for the lift a little bit. im still going to use the lift kit i bought, but do a shackle flip and hanger drop in the back, and a hanger drop and custom shackles in the front. i might be trading these 38's off for a set of new 42-15-16.5 tsl's just so the truck dont look too rediculous with the bigger lift.
more info to come, stay tuned lol.

well my project is going to be postponed for a while till i figure out where i can store this truck out of sight and out of mind. some punks here in town thought they would vandalize my truck again for the 2nd time. this time they almost wiped out my whole electrical system and almost cost my sons and my own life since the wire for my gas tank sender caught on fire and was burning right on the terminal on the gas tank. life just doesnt get any better lol. will update as things progress
