Muffler Install Question

Bought a new Walker muffler and pipes from Roackauto for my truck from the cat back. My question is what end of the muggler goes toward the front of the truck?

The muffler is a cylinder, it looks like a big can. There is lettering on the can at one end with a double headed arrow.

B <----> A

Can anyone give me a hand?

i would look it up online just to make sure because some mufflers HAVE to be pointed towards the back because that is the way it is ment to flow.

Here is Walker's diagram. I would say that "A" is the "Inlet" and "B" is the "Outlet".

Walker On-Line Catalog

The installation guide refers to Step 7 - "Using Muffler Specification Chart determine inlet end of muffler for your vehicle application."

Well I kinda figured the double headed arrow was a dead giveaway that the muffler was a reverse flow.

Don't know what reverse flow means. Installed muffler and pipes, took about 20 mins. Hooked up the B side to the tailpipe and the A side to the pipe coming from the cat. Works fine on the short test run I did.

Thanks to all

Reverse flow.Meaning the muffler can be installed in either direction,But i see you already have it on now so it don't much matter anymore.

My truck is purely a work truck that I'm doing on the cheap. I bought it for $1,000.00 nad have $800.00 into it including 4 used (almost new) BF Goodrich 32's, a cap, exhaust, hoses, thermostat, tax and tags.

I don't have alot of money to sink into it so I didn't buy an performance system. The muffler, and pipes through Rock Auto cost me like $60.00. To answer your question the about the muffler, you can barely hear the truck running now, I guess that's OK by me, don't annoy my neighbors when I start it up in the AM. When I get the 32's mounted I'll get some pics up. The truck isn't pretty, it's battleship grey and my kids named it the destroyer.

Destroyer! Ha! Lat year, I put a cat-back system on my 1997 F250 and it was pretty quiet too. I look forward to the pics!
