Slow Windows...

Well, I think the (Driver's side for now) window is finally going out. Today, it has been making a terrible squealing sound as it nears the top of the door.

I ran the window back up, then pushed the button down to try to pinpoint the sound, and the window would not roll back down. No response at all from the window button. All other windows work fine, although terribly slow.

I'm gonna yank the driver's side door panel off and i'll let you know what I find.

the switches themselves also like to get corroded on the contacts

I had that issue with my 06 F-150.

feel your pain though about the slow window action. my right rear window is acting up, but I'm scared to let the idiots at any of the 3 Dealerships touch it.

Same problem here. My D/S window is very slow and it doesn't help that it's been snowing and freezing temps around here the last 2 weeks. I've been succesful with other cars putting some silicone down the window tracks with the window down. If that doesn't work, warranty time.

My guess is the cable snapped/came off the pulley or the pulley broke. Look near the top, inside the door for two small pulleys that wrap up the cable and bring the window up and down. Might need a mirror and some good lights.

There is a TSB for slow windows regarding the rubber track it slides into. I had my rear passenger window regulator and motor replaced twice. First time for painfully slow movement-20 seconds to roll up. Second time for a loud creaking noise from the newly replaced regulator. I suggest you pull the panel and load up the track with more lithium grease where the white sliders move on. The parts on the regulator are extremely cheap feeling.

TSB 08-19-4

REAR POWER WINDOWS OPERATE SLOW / BIND /
STICK - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 10/8/2007

FORD:
2008 Expedition

LINCOLN:
2008 Navigator

This article supersedes TSB 08-13-4 to update the Service Labor Times.
ISSUE
Some 2008 Expedition and Navigator vehicles built on or before 10/8/2007 may exhibit rear power windows that operate slow or stick I bind when operating.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Verify the power window sticks I binds or is slow by visual inspection.

2. Replace the rear door glass top run for the affected window. It will be necessary to remove the door glass prior to glass run removal per Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 501-11.

3. Inspect the outer glass weatherstrip while door panel is off for correct positioning. Incorrect positioning could cause a binding concern due to excessive pressure on window.

a. Correct positioning of the outer glass weatherstrip would have the inside lip sitting flush against the inner door sheet metal.

b. No gaps would be felt between the outer glass weatherstrip and inner door sheet metal.

c. Make sure the four (4) retaining tabs are aligned and inserted correctly in the retaining holes.

d. Replace the outer glass weatherstrip if retaining tabs do not seat or the outer glass weatherstrip does not stay in position, refer to WSM, Section 501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.

4. Recheck power window operation.

Same thing happened to me.. the driver side window started to bind and squeak and in freezing temps it would not operate.. Eventually mine stopped working completely... The passenger side did the same thing but has never stopped working.. Brought it to the dealer.. on the driver side they replaced the regulator on and the passenger used lubricant.

Drive side window now works even in freezing temps.. but my passenger side still squeaks.

I'm projecting at somepoint the regulator will go on the passenger side and then I will have to pay out of pocket.. when it should have been resolved the first time around.

I would take it in if its under warranty.

You can try to put some silicone spray on the weatherstrip to see if that frees it up at all
