I am glad I do a lot of my own stuff! Radius arm bushings , center hinge lift brackets , beam bushings, complete front right axle replacement, rear brake shoes, right rear brake slave cylinder.........swap in a manual transfer case .....

 

Why when I saw this thread did I know Andy was involved. I did all my stuff in Dec. So unless something pops up I have nothing planned. I may go outside and fire up the 66 just for something to do.

 

The upside to finding out my hinge brackets were bent is that I wanted to eventually get the improved Skyjacker brackets.

 

And now that can happen cause you have an excuse to do it.

I've got a front gas tank waiting to be replaced, radius arm bushings waiting to be replaced, and front shocks waiting to be replaced. I think Santa took my motivation...

Put another battery in the 75. The first one I bought was no good. Sitting it had almost 14 volts. Once a load was put on it it dropped down to around 5. No wonder it wouldn't turn that loose old 360 over.

Had my tow haul light flashing last week and was going to take it in and have the codes read. Monday morning dead batteries. They are somewhat suspect as well. At this point I thought I would just disconnect them turn on the headlights and clean the connections. Drove it a bit so it could do all it's relearning stuff. So far the lights not flashing which is good but I hate it when stuff like that happens.

 

Well, I finally got around to changing the oil in my Ranger yesterday. Put that Quaker State full synthetic in it for the first time.

But I noticed the last time I was at Costco, where I bought the oil, there wasn't any more. Like they were trying to liquidate it or something. I should have bought more than one case. Ah, whatever, if they stock it again, I might get it.

I also did my wife's car yesterday, as it was coming due in about a week.

 

Speaking of due. Aren't you two getting close to baby time?

Yep, getting close. They say 37 weeks is full term, and that's next Saturday. But the due date is still 4 weeks off.
I've never really had any preference, but when I got my truck, Q state was the only brand I could find, so I've stuck with it. Mind you, back in the day, Q state sponsored a Buick in NASCAR, and my dad had a Buick. Might have swayed me a bit. Idunno.

I did amazingly little work on my trucks the last couple of months. The 31x10.5 tires on rusty chrome rims that I found dumped by a logging trail turned out to be the wrong bolt pattern. I wanted to use them to check if 31x10.5 tires would fit a stock '57-'60.

I did some ghetto body repair on an '80s Toyota Tercel. The rust around the rear wheel tubs and quarter panels was so bad that water was splashing in and soaking the carpets. So, I used up some old marine body filler, spare roof patch fabric, then roof patch compound since it was easier to work with. The gaping holes in the bottoms of the rear quarter panels I filled with spray foam. And I replaced one door switch (the original was badly corroded so the wire broke off) so now the courtesy light works again when unloading the back seat.

This month: hopefully triage the remains of the '60 M100. Save the good parts, recycle or chuck the hopeless. Fix an air compressor so I can sandblast the '59 frame and panel truck seams when the weather warms and dries up.

I have far too much time on my hands right now, and I know I'll regret not making better use of it when I'm working full-time again.
