On our Excursion, the rear wiper washer is not getting any fluid. It sounds like the motor is pumping, and the reservoir is full of the cold temp washer fluid. Is there a seperate motor for the rear washer? If so where is it located?

 

Under the carpet in the passenger side footwell is where the hose to the rear washer runs. It]s way up in the corner. It comes through the firewall and makes a 90 deg turn. Where it turns there is a 90 deg hose fitting. Check this fitting to see if it has come disconnected. Before pulling up the carpet you might want to check to see if it is wet. If the hose is disconnected in this spot it should be.

If the firewall hose connection checks out OK, then move to the very rear of the headliner, right where it meets up with the liftgate. There's another connection above the headliner...not HARD to get to, just a pain to remove plastic trim.

I have found with mine if I don't use the washer prior to "cold" weather the old washer fluid seems to freeze in the line. Once a semi warm day comes along and the fluid starts to flow the problem goes awayfor the rest of the season. And I use the -20 stuff year around.

 

We don't have that problem here in Florida. :-)

 

End of Year Special on washer leaks?

Mine wasn't pushing any fluid onto the glass, so keep the washer on until I heard it flow. Nice lil puddle on the read deck carpet

Exactly what happened to mine this weekend. I forgot until I read this. I need to look at that tomorrow.

 

Must be.... at least mine has the puddle of water on the outside. It's right at the firewall so probably just a disconnected hose but given the weather outside it's going to have to wait a bit. Happy New Year all!

 

Hi Guys-It finally warmed up enough so it turned out I had blue washer fluid on the side of the passenger floor, so I pulled the kicker panel and sill strip, pulled the carpet back and reconnected the hose at the firewall. How it came unhooked is beyond me, it looks like it is a deep connection...

Anyways, my wife and I were talking about how this website has really been a God send. I have received so much help and advice on how to repair our Excursion and Super Duty over the years that it has saved us piles of $$$$ on repairing it myself. Thanks guys/gals for all your help. I'm a little late to the party, but just wanted to say thank you.

I checked the passenger carpet after reading this and found that it was just a tad wet (understatement). It turned out to be the connector at the firewall. What an easy fix once you know where to look.
