Happy Holidays all. Here in Nova Scotia I've found a Flathead V8 in a field Frozen in the mud with the oil pan rusted out, and a cracked head I didn't know where to look for casting numbers on the block until I searched on here. It's too covered in snow to find casting numbers anyways...

However. The Aluminum intake has (C8BA), (C8RT), and (6520) Cast into it.
So does the make it a Canadian car/truck intake? 1948-1949? and what would the 6520 mean? It seems to have a single barrel carb and I'm not sure if it's a three or four bolt flange.

I'm trying to get pictures up but my Photobucket account keeps crashing my computer. I'm just trying to figure out what to call this when I tell people about it, and these forums are the place to get info!!!

The first is the engine as I found it in the snow.

The second is the castings on the intake.

The third is a shot of the intake and carb.

The fourth is a transmission that was frozen in the ground beside it. I have no info on this.

looks like a 49-53 8ba style block. If i had to guess the C means canadian model.

 

Got it out of the ground... The heads have 8RT cast in them.

Aluminum timing cover, is this worth removing?

Are there ever any useful parts on these old swamp finds, I mean the intake and timing cover look good from the outside. I mean I'm not trying to make a profit on anything, it just seems a shame to let usable things sit around unused.

I've just gotta get this thing rolled onto my Chevette hood toboggan and muscle it out of the swamp.
