I have a 2004 F-250 Crew Cab. I am in the market for an In-Dash DVD Receiver. I can't take the stock in dash cd player system much longer. I have been doing research trying to figure out what ball park I would be spending depending on the system I get. I was checking out a few websites and when I select my vehicle NON of the indash systems fit at all. The 5.7" or 6.1" how do I figure out which system works for my truck. What indash system do you guys have in your truck? Pros and Cons? Recommendations?

I am basically looking for a touch screen [with a volume ****] capable of playing my iPod, DVDs, CD's, etc. I wouldn't mind having a back up camera, but I would be adding that later down the road so it's not 100% necessary. I am looking to spend right at or around $500.

Use crutchfield.com to look at all of the options and research for your specific vehicle. I recently purchased the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD which basically has or can be attached to anything except for navigation. I'm loving it - but also upgraded my speakers, added an amp and sub and added a Boyo backup cam plus steering wheel control integration module. There is also an electronics sub-forum here you should check for more specific info.

 

I have been using Clutchfield it is even saying the Pioneer AVH0P4100DVD doesn't fit either. Which truck do you have? How do you like the radio without a physical **** to turn it up/down?

 

I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3, it took some minor triming but looks great.

 

If you want to go ghetto, there are tons of OEM Ford stuff at the local junk yard, or at stereo dealers where the owner discarded it in favor of a better unit.

 

Look into the Pioneer Double Din units, they all fit with an install kit, you might have to do some minor trimming, but unlikely. I have the F90BT and it does everything, touchscreen, IPOD, DVD, Nav, bluetooth, and rear camera. They upgraded to the new X910BT, but all they did was take the F90 and install an updated version. You can get F90 on Ebay for about 500.00 new. Or if your re4ally feeling like spending some cash, they have the ZX110 indash, it is a full 7" touchscreen TFT and the F90 is 5.7" touchscreen with volume ****. Hope this helps.....

 

Crutchfield doesn't consider it a double din because it may need minor trimming to fit. They don't want the hassle of people complaining because of 1/8 inch of trimming. But it will fit.

 

Very true, trust me it wont need trimming, it installs easily with the right dash kit.

 

i installed the Pioneer AVH0P4100DVD in my 2004 f250 crew cab 4x4. all i had to do is trim the top and bottom lip with a dremel. took 5 minutes once the dash was out. not bad at all and looks sweet! nice and flush. you will need to by the bracket kit and you just slide it in one click at a time until you like the way it looks.

 

Pioneer Avic Z2 here and it fit without any modification, I just don't think you can get them anymore.

 

Careful of some of the AVIC 700 and 900 series. They run a windows operating system and can freeze up and do strange things. I have an AVIC 700 series and got hit with that issue. I had to send it in for replacement into Pioneer.

But like it said above...it fits nice and pretty in our dash!

Avic-D3 has 6.1 " screen and a volume *** and a remote. Crutchfield says they are discontinued though?

 

The AVIC Series is advancing so quickly. It's not gonna take long for most of the 2yo builds will be going away. It's a good series...but like alot of Windows based builds, some do have issues. Not all of them are like that...but when people have problems...they have problems with them.

Was in the truck when I got it. Touchscreen w/remote.

 

Yep, the D3 has been replaced.
