2006 F350 seat belt retractor
I am having a problem with my front seat belts on my '06 F350 crew cab 4x4. Both sides won't release properly. The problem seems to occur more often when the truck is cold, but it also happens at other times. I have the truck at the dealer for this problem, as well as a few others. The dealer just called me and said it was going to be $590 to replace both seat belt retractors. The truck has 65000 miles on it, and the dealer says the belts are covered until 50K. Has any body had a similar problem? Does any one know where I might get the retractors ( the dealer says they are $ 190 left, and $ 210 right ), and how difficult they are to install? Also, shouldn't this safety issue be covered by Ford? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!!!!

The seat belt retractors are not hard to replace, you have to take off both the front and rear sill plates, then take a T-50 socket and remove the bottom and the top atttachment point of the seat belts. then pop off the trim piece that covers the inside of the B piller and that is where the retractor assm is(its part of the seatbelt) and it is attached by a T-50 bolt also, and it has wires pluged in to it. un plug and replace. go to tascafordparts.com for a great deal on parts. there cost on those are around $100.00 ea. good luck
