I am trying to replace a transmission that was stolen out of one of my trucks and need to know if i can make a 2 wheel drive 4R100 work in my 99 f250 4x4 that had a 4r100 in it. I can buy the whole truck for 650 and just a used tranny is at least 850 or more plus a core which I don't have. I just need a straight answer if it will work or not.

The truck has a good engine and tranny and a passenger side door that i need as well.

Yes, it can be made to work, but it is not a bolt in.

The transmission has to be torn completely down and then a 4x4 output shaft has to be installed. Then the transmission is rebuilt.

 

Whats the specs on the truck? I have a 99 with 129 on the clock 2wd and I want to convert my truck to 4wd. If you can get the whole truck is the front axle and springs still in it? Maybe we can work something out. PM Me/

How long are these transmissions expected to last before needing attention / rebuilding?

 

I asked that right after I joined, I heard from 50k to over 500K.
