Heater blend door free fix WORKS!

I can vouch that this fix works perfectly, it only took about 15 minutes. I had to drill the hole at a different angle than the directions show, but if you use a mirror as he says, you can easily figure out the correct angle.

I realize this fix might not work for everyone, but it sure beats taking the heater box apart, cutting holes in it, or paying 1000 bucks to have it fixed.

Here is a link to the fix I used:

Thumbs up

Ditto on the free fix working. Just completed as per directions and all is well with the climate control. Definitly got a big smile when I heard the blend door moving.

I just did the same thing to my ranger. works good. I also went to the local u-pull and got a blend door out of a junker as a back-up, cost 2 bucks. I cut the bottom out of the heater box to get to it. took about 15 minutes.

what if I said my 2001 EB Explorer climate control goes from heat to cold when ever it wants. I can turn the AC on and it's cold for a while, turn the corner and it goes to full heat. Is this also a symptom of a broken blend door? Seems like the temps go from AC to HEAT randomly, what would cause that?

If the blend door hinge is broken it can flop around at will... Philip

is the hinge something different that the actuator fix? I will pull mine apart this weekend and see if I can see in there. Definitely seems like mine is moving wherever it wants, specially at stop signs, it will go from ice cold to hot and back to cold again at will...
