2008 F250 6.4L Diesel Fuel Filter part #

About to do my first fuel filter(s) change. The owner's manual says the part # is FD4604. Motorcraft.com and dieselfiltersonline.com say the part # is FD4609. Amazon.com say both will fit my truck.

Does anyone if there is a difference between FD4604 and FD4609? Will both fit??

Thanks

4604 was for the 6.0L. Looks to me like 4609 is for the 6.4L.

Forget Ford, and order from these guys:

Agreed. I guess there is a misprint in the Ford manual. I did order the filters from dieselfiltersonline.com.

Thanks

You might want to visit fleet.ford.com and download a fresh copy of the manual (it's free). There are often multiple printings available. Not saying there is for an '08, haven't checked.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

It is found under the maintenance tab.

On edit:
I don't think they have the diesel supplement there, and that is what you need. Try here:
http://www.motorcraftservice.com

No need to log in, just click on the owners manual tab on the left side of the page.

Looks like they corrected it in the 4th printing of the diesel supplement.

Found it!! Sure enough, on the 4th printing of the supplement they added the correct fuel filter # to the manual for the 6.4L. The 1st and 3rd are incorrect (2nd not shown).

YOU DA MAN!!

Thanks

Glad you found it.

I think I know what happened on that. You have to remember that an '08 manual covers the Superduty and the Econoline. The Econoline still got the 6.0L engine. They just left out that differentiation. Took them long enough to fix it, huh?

A service tip for you on the filter change I had with my 08. Upon putting on the new filters and cycling the key the 6 times per the manual my truck would not start. I could get it to catch briefly was about it.

I learned that holding down the fuel cutoff switch while cranking I was able to get it primed and running.

My switch is sensitive is the only explanation I have.

Switch is on the passenger side of the dash. Open the door and you will see the access panel on the side of the dash.
