Super Camper Specials: 1973/76 F350 Regular Cab Styleside Pickups on a 140" wheelbase.

Ford dropped the Super part of the name after 1976, so the 1977/79's are just refered to as Camper Specials.

Super Camper Special emblems: 1973: D3TZ16720W / 1974/76: D4TZ16720D. There is no Super Camper Special emblem after 1976.

ALL 1973/76 F350 Super Camper Specials & 1977/79 Regular Cab Camper Specials (140" wheelbase) have the spare tire mounted vertically behind a door on the right quarter panel (bed side) in front of the rear wheel.

Just because a 1973/79 has dual batteries does not mean it's a Camper Special.

Dual batteries were optional on ALL 1973/79 F100/350's.

140" wheelbase: Is it a Super Camper Special or a Camper Special? Maybe yes...maybe no, because...

1973/79 F350 Regular Cab TRAILER SPECIALS used the same 140" wheelbase. These trucks also have the spare tire behind the door on the right quarter panel.

75 Ford Super Camper Special Follow up

Thanks for all the great pictures and info on this truck. My truck is 140 inch and 10000 GVW. It came with a 390 motor and the spare tire is stored in a separate compartment on the passenger side of the truck bed. I have 55000 miles on this truck. I had a 11 foot Lance camper on this truck for about 10 years. It sat for about 15 years in my driveway and driven about 50 miles a month. Now that I am retired I have gone all out on restoring this truck. I am trying to keep it as stock as I can. Stock blue paint etc. I will post pictures when I figure out how to download them.

What makes a Trailer special?
I found a Trailer special tag/emblem in my truck but there was no holes in the tailgate where it would go?

A 1973/79 F350 140" wheelbase Trailer Special is essentially equipped the same way as a 1973/76 F350 Super Camper Special.

The pigtailed wiring harness furnished with Trailer Special's plugged into the taillamp loom for the trailer lights.

On Camper Special's, the pigtailed wiring harness was used for interior Camper Lights.

2) D3TZ16720Y ..Trailer Special Emblem 1973.

2) D4TZ16720F .. Trailer Special Emblem 1974/76.

PartS catalog says "Cab" for location of these emblems. But after looking at some factory photo's, they show the emblems below the F350 emblem on the front fenders.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) D6UZ1142528A .. Trailer Special Emblem 1977/79-Tailgate

This same emblem was also used on 1976/79 Econoline Trailer Specials...and on...1978/79 Bronco Trailer Specials.

This front of this emblem says TRAILER SPECIAL inside a rectangular plate. Behind it and covering the left side of the emblem is the outline of the United States.

Were these trucks sold in Canada? Dunno.

Here's one for ya, anyone know where to get the lower chrome trim on the box, I would imagine I'm going to have a hard time finding it because the bed's are different because of the longer wheelbase. as far as the scs, I had heard that ford only made 2000 or 3000 of these so given that it was 30 years ago, I would imagine that they are getting hard to find.

My Trailer special badge is a map of the US with "Trailer Special" inside it.

I have a big factory looking plug bolted to my frame just behind the cab.
I always thought it may be for camper wiring.

I just happen to have a set of the lower race track trim for a SCS off of my '77 that i want to sell. I've been looking for a while now for somebody who could use it as it is specific to the SCS 140" wheelbase and i have no use for it.

Smile 1975 Ford f250 Camper Special. Super?

I just bought this truck a few months ago. Was looking for the short bed but the look of this one caught my eye. I love the tool box compartment on the passenger side of the bed. I really haven't done much to her yet, just fluid changes, spark plugs and wires. She runs pretty strong but the biggest thing bugging me right now are the doors. When I hit 60 the doors just rattle like they're about to fall off. They're shut tight but it doesn't stop them. I know its all you hear inside but outside all you hear are the glass pipes the last owner put on. She may not break any records getting there but you hear her coming.

Smile Re: Camper Special

On my Marty report that I got for my 78 F250 S/C 4X4, one of the options listed is a "Camper Package". Is this a camper special?. My truck does have the dual battery setup and the big flat plug on the top of the frame rail by the front tank. What options came with this package?. Thank's for your help. Kel.
